In Blossom

In Blossom grew from observing cherry trees and the changing pinks that appear both within a single bloom and throughout their flowering cycle. The work treats color almost like a long exposure photograph, bringing these changes together so several moments can exist at the same time. Hundreds of individually made blooms move through shades of pink and white, while changes in size create distance as larger flowers move forward and smaller ones recede. A fragmented fence serves as a back drop to the branches and a small window into a world just only slightly further. A few of the blossoms seem to drift beyond the mat, gently extending the sense of the composition past its expected boundaries.
